We need to simplify messaging. Focus on:

  1. Undefined "third parties"

  2. "Including but not limited to" language, which leaves the door wide open.

  3. How can we, in good conscience, sign "I have read and understood the Privacy Notice Statement (PNS) and how Transport Canada (TC) will collect, use, and disclose my personal information for the purposes outlined therein." There are scores of unknowns and we are getting no answers from unions, companies, or Transport Canada ( here are some questions without clear answers).

  4. If you want one more point, you could select from here.

The action list below reads top to bottom, priority wise.

Best to do all. If short on time, start at the top and work as far down as you can. When emailing, be professional and to the point (a good guide is 3-4 paragraphs):

  1. Send this website to all your pilot colleagues.

  2. Contact your union (ALPA for most). Links below will likely be behind an ALPA login. We suggest calling or emailing your MEC and LEC chair at the very least. The more the merrier.

    1. Tim Perry, ALPA President, email him here.

    2. Air Canada ALPA contact info is here and emails/info can be found on top left drop down.

    3. WestJet Pilots, ALPA contact info for LEC here, MEC here.

    4. Jazz Pilots, ALPA contact info here.

    5. CargoJet Pilots, email here.

    6. Flair Pilots, email here.

    7. Encore Pilots (please contact us with info)

    8. Porter Pilots (please contact us with info)

    9. Others (please contact us with info)

  3. Contact your company management.

  4. Contact Transport Canada 'Access to Information and Privacy" Coordinator with your concerns: Angelle Moore whose email is: ATIP-AIPRP@tc.gc.ca

  5. Contact the Minister of Transport here.

  6. Contact your MP, here. We have had productive meetings with members' MPs who are showing interest. The Shadow Minister for Transport is supportive, and it would help to contact him as well.

  7. Contact the Privacy Commissioner. Because TC is a federal government department, the complaint goes directly to the OPC. Start here.

    1. Members have spoken to a senior adviser who is sympathetic. He indicated more messages to the OPC would indeed help. NEW

  8. The Document suggests questions be addressed via the Civil Aviation Medical branch, at this page. Interestingly, that's not what the page is for. Nevertheless, send away and do your best!

  9. Some are suggesting signing under duress, meaning adding words with your signature to make it clear you had to sign this, but do not agree to the terms. Consensus is this won't accomplish much but is likely better than just signing.
